When the eyes of the sea started to cry...

“Los ojos de mar” (the eyes of the sea) are two lagoons located in front of the Llo- lleo’s beach in the city of San Antonio in the fifth region of Chile.

Before the earthquake and latest tsunami that devastated the Chilean coast on February 27,that place was a natural attraction.

There were many houses where people used to spend their summer vacations. That night of the earthquake five persons lost their lives after the tsunami smashed their houses with them in there. Four of those people have been found, one is still missed at the bottom of one of the lagoons. Nowadays, no one goes there, only the people who collect firewood from the debris of the houses.

The only thing that stands at that place is an improvised sanctuary in memory of the people who died that night at the 4:40 am...
